Reflections make me think of puddles and water and mirrors-- stuff like that. I wasn't in the mood to draw puddles, water and mirrors. I was in the mood for spy gizmos. So, this is what I came up with. Lame? Maybe, but who cares. I did have fun playing with the color even though it didn't work all that great.
Update: I just did this sketch that I like much more.

Lame? Definitely not. This is righteous. Way to bust outta the norm.
Lovely job, Guy. I love the reflection on her face.
nice.. a pretty illo.. tho kinda reminds me of thecartoon on Disney.. Kim Possible.. hehe.. hows only how you draw well/
Very cool character...second one is good too - you're onto something! I want to know what happens next!?
Both are good. I like the second one better. The idea of getting all geared up to rapell from a building or fight some bad guys, and then pausing to do her lipstick, seems humorous to me.
I like them both, but the top one makes me think of an old school femme fatale, and tha's kind of cool. I would hardly call this lame...
The writer in me likes the second one too. What's left of my old libido prefers the first. Both are terrific illustrations!
Hey,
I'm a sister to that jolly porter fella whose blog you seem to frequent. I have to say that I LOVE your blog (now I sound like one of those lame spam comments that have been going around here as of late).
Congrats on your latest book! I will be visiting this blog regularly...(if that is ok with you).
Makes me think of my favorite show- Alias! Fantastic Illo!
Nice angle, Guy. I like the just slightly painterly feel. I don't know if you're like me, but I don't care to get too 'slick' with my illos. I like them just under-done, I guess you could say. Most of the ones I see here on your blog seem to have that quality. I like 'em. : )
The green glow is so cool, just what a hi-tech gizmo should be like. And the 2nd one is more ... contemporary ... I like all the little details.
As the above comments attest, these drawings are so not lame, Guy. Such a fun spin on the topic. I must admit I'm a bit distracted by the equipment in the second one. I prefer the painterly one. It's more simple, sexy, and it immediately conjured in my mind a story. I can already see her accomplices, adversaries, etc. Hmm ... Where's my pencil?
Spy gizmos are much better then mirrors and water. I think both drawings look great.

It's like a new version of Kim Possible.
Cool coloring!
Okay, it is so not lame! I like both illos. They are both unique. The second one looks more pure and innocent, and the first looks more smooth and sly. Great portrayal of "reflection."
It's nice to be able to use your talent to express yourself. I'm forced to make faces at myself in the mirror when I shave. How's that for reflection? Nice sketches. I like the second one better too. I think part of it is the latch on the compact. It's so much more gizmo-esque.
Great work. I lke the second one too. I love goggles.
The first one has great colours tho.
Golly, I feel like I have to choose a favorite...but I like them both for completely different reasons. The second one is just...a really beautiful sketch and he expression is great. Though she looks a little more surprised by whatever is happening over her shoulder. I like the first one for...of course, the really excellent coloring and mood. I think I might lean towards this one, because it has a sort of Film Noir feel...with a modern techno-spy-gadget approach. And I ditto what Cedric says about the lipstick. Anyway...both are incredibly appealing. And perty. And fun. I could easily see a story develop here.
I love the blue glow.
I think it's sexy.
Actually I think it looks awesome! I wish I could draw...but alas...stick figures are as much as I can manage.
I don't think it was lame either! In fact, it was rather a rather refreshing concept! Nicely done on both the illo and the drawing, Guy!
Mike
Guy,
I like them both. Somehow the girl in the full outfit seems sexier to me somehow. Maybe I'm more drawn to cute then I am to 'high maintainance'. Love the pose on both, though I picture each of the girls in very different situations.
The color version seems to have been at dinner with friends when she was called away on assignment. Whereas the full-gizmo girl is already on assignment and hears a noise mid-transmission.
I love the idea that she has a compact for seeing the guys at H.Q. and lipstick communicator for speaking into. Very clever. But I can honestly say that about all your work. You take art to a new level. Thanks for inspiring me to work harder.
Later,
Ken
Can we see full-gizmo girl in color. That'd be sweet!
