Painted Steam Guy

I threw some paint on and this was the result. I used gouache. I can't even remember the last time I used gouache. I not really happy with it, but it was good practice. The background is all scumbley and I'm not crazy bout the colors. Oh well, better luck next time.

I actually like the way the blue-green background contrasts with the little guy's yellow skin.

Terrific! For what it's worth I think the background turned out great. Congrats on the teaching gig, hope it goes well.

I have two questions:

One--Define "gouache" and "scumbley" for all of us non-artists out here.

Two--can you paint that exact background on my kids' bathroom wall? It's cool!

Have fun teaching! If I'd have known I would've loved to audit your class.

I love the colours, Guy! Vibrant and punchy! I really like the red dot for the eye. Something about the red dot........

I actually like the scumbley sky...it goes with the wierd guy. You wouldn't expect the sky to be normal where ever this guy lives. You've got some imagination, Guy. Good Luck teaching!

Okay, it's starting to grow on me. I like it more today. I still would change a few things but at least the background isn't bugging me so much.

Compulsive-
gouache is like a opaque watercolor.

Scumbley is like messy, dirty, yucky..whatever.

No. Paint your own stupid bathroom. You have neighbors that live closer to you that specialize in that sort of thing.

Oh, and I'm flattered that you'd want to be in my class, but I don't think it would be as neat as you think it might be.

Smook- Curse you! You have somehow worked your way into my subconscience. The red eye...not the RED EYE!!
